| This is a picture of Katherine Filipek's Salt and Pepper Shakers. After she died in 1948, the children and grandchildren were able to go through the house and pick a few things of interest. Jeanne chose these salt and pepper shakers which she described as Bavarian. I am not sure what makes them so. Bavaria, though, is very near Kolence and had much impact on the culture of that region of Bohemia. On the bottom of one are four numbers which can be read in two ways. Either as 1886 which could be a date or 7381 possibly an item number. Someday we'll run these by an antique shop to see what we have. Jeanne passed these onto Dave to preserve for future generations. |
