This is a picture of Katherine Filipek's broach. In March 2001, it was given to Terry from her mother who had inherited it from Katherine Filipek years before. Etched into the stones is what appears to be "Diarlsbad", but the area around the "Di" is scratched. It is possilby "Carlsbad", which could mean it was from Carlsbad, New Mexico and purchased around the time they were in Colorado. Or perhaps Katherine purchased it on one of her trips back in "Karlsbad" a town in the Czech Republic about 70 miles west of Prague and near the German border. Karlsbad is now called Karlovy Vary.
Terry's mom also showed her a porcelain sugar bowl with a broken handle that was from Colorado and a few other things that were Katherine's, including a gold etched decanter and a small gold etched shot glass. |
