Page 5: January 30, 1884 Letter to Parents

Hracholuskach January 30, 1884

Dear Parents,
I received the money from you and immediately I'm writing you back. You write that the young one is sick, let me know right away if he's getting better. I asked you to send me a rabbit and you haven't done it, please send it if you can. Did the young one take ____ (medicine)? Or Kaleova? What have you been doing? Are you healthy? Write me soon. Say hello to the young one and wish him a quick recovery. What is Honzicek up to? Is he sick??

Interpretation: This appears to be a letter from Vaclav to his parents in Kolence. The date places him in Hracholuckach on January 30, 1884. Some mysteries:

  1. Who is the young one?
  2. What is Kaleova
  3. Who is Honzicek?
  4. The date is one day after what Katerina nee Nemec said was her wedding date to Vaclav. Can this be? If so it would be in or near Hracholuskach.
