Page 6: Portion of a Letter to a Colleague
Above is a scan of page 5 of Vaclav Filipek's Journal. In December 2004, Daniela and Scot of Kolence kindly provided the following English translation.



If I always acted according to my brain, and not listened to your advice, I could have been in a different position. I wouldn't have to listen to any complaints from your lady who blames me for being lazy, an inexperienced woman, who never did anything. So I would advise her to keep it to herself, because we know her well.

Interpretation: This letter does not appear to be a continuation of the January 30, 1884 letter. In this letter, it appears Vaclav is lamenting to a male friend about his advice and having to listen to complaints from the friend's girl friend or wife about Vaclav's ambitions. Some mysteries:
  1. Who is the the letter to?
  2. Who is the lady? Both might be in Hracholuskach.
