This is a portrait of a young John Sokolik. It was taken at the J.B. Wilson Studio at 389 State. Possibly this is the same family where John worked for the Wilson Brothers Clothing Company. The J. B. Wilson Studios were at 389 State from 1891 to 1900 and possibly beyond. John was born in 1876 and appears to be in his young 20s, thus the suggested year of about 1900. This portrait also appears to be a mate to the Kate Sokolik portrait; however, it is thought that it is earlier than their engagement photographs. Note the flower, high collar and very formal suit. It appears he is going to a formal ball. |
