Death Record Comments
  • It was known that James Oscar Jordan had a brother James Jordan who lived in Madison. By tracing him through the Madison Directories, an approximate year of death was found. With this information it was possible for the death record to be found. In fact it was possible to track James from the early 1900s when his mother lived briefly in the same household.
  • The key item was the date of birth. With this date, it was possible to find his birth record in greater London. He was born in Poplar, England. The knowledge that the family came from Poplar led to the discovery of many other records about the family.
  • Certainly James knew the name of his mother and father. However, with advanced age, it is likely his wife did not remember.
  • The above is a partial extraction of the data from the original certificate.
