Birth Record Comments
  • This record was obtained from the General Register Office, St. Catherine's House for me by a researcher on January 11, 2005.
  • The various Scholdberg children appear to be named after various grandparents, uncles and aunts. Elizabeth was probably named after her Grandmother Elizabeth Holloway Steward. Perhaps the middle name, Ada will be helpful in linking to another relative someday.
  • Sadly, Knut Oscar Scholdberg, Elizabeth's father died 15 November 1875 in Alexandria, Egypt. He left on this voyage on 29 September, so at least he got to be with little Elizabeth before it was too late.

Death Record Comments
  • This record was obtained from the General Register Office, St. Catherine's House for me by a researcher on January 10, 2005.
  • At the time of Elizabeth's death, her mother Elizabeth Priscilla Holloway Scholdberg Jordan was married to James Jordan. There must have been a misunderstanding as to the father as James Jordan was crossed out and the correct father written in.
  • Just 16 days after the death of Elizabeth Ada Scholdberg, he mother would give birth to James Henry Jordan. It must have been a sad time for her to lose her only daughter.
  • The cause of death was phohisis. This term appears to be common for the time but not nowadays. It appears to be some sort of lung disease, possibly a form of tuberculosis.
