Cook Couty, Illinois

Groom: Frank Nometz

Marriage Index Record Comments
  • The marriage data was obtained from the Illinois Statewide Marriage Index, 17631900.
  • Note that Nemec was spelled Nometz; however the year 1891 matches the date of marriage in the 1900 Census.

Marriage License Comments
  • The information in the Marriage License matches that in the Marriage Record Index.
  • Nometz was probably an error by the clerk in recording the information. Note that Father Bobal corrected it.
  • The age for Frank is about a year older and for Mary a year younger that expected from other data. It is likely they adjusted their ages which was common at the time so that the man was older than the woman.

Church Marriage Record Comments
  • This marriage record was obtained in a general search of St. John Nepumuce Records in July 2001 by Dave Jordan.
  • It is unclear whether the town names are where they were from previously or where born.
  • It is thought that Joanni translates to John.
  • Zelenny should be Zelezny.
  • It is unknown who Wenceslas Filipek is. It seems like Vaclav Filipek should have been a witness as Vaclav Filipek would be Frank Nemec's brother-in-law.
  • The NOVAK line is of some interest because John and Theresa Novak were the baptismal sponsors for John James Filipek in 1882 and it is also thought it was the Novaks who Katherine Nemec stayed with when she came to Chicago and that they were relatives. It is unknown how John and Anna Novak, John and Theresa Novak or Mary Novak connect.
