    The October 18, 1977 letter from E. Th. R. Unger on behalf of the Rijksarchivaris in Noord-Holland provided a copy of the Birth Record and extracted and provided the following information in English:
    "Martha Tanis, born March 28, 1857 in the polder "Haarlemmermeer" near Haarlem (This lake had been reclaimed a few years before that -1852-). Martha Tanis was a daughter of Aart (Arthur) Tanis, a farmer by trade, aged 25 years, and his wife Dirkje Aletta Blaak."

A April 26, 1978 letter from the Gemeente Secretarie van Haarlemmermeer provided the following information from the Population Registers for the Tanis's:
  • Tanis, Aart, born 15 February 1832 te Flakkee, landbouwer, died 17 November 1866 te Haarlemmermeer
  • Blaak, Dirkje Aletta, born 27 September 1836 te Stellendam
    • Kornelia, born 26 September 1855 Texel
    • Martha, born 28 mrt 1857 Haarlemmermeer
    • Dirkje Aletta, born 26 December 1858 Haarlemmermeer
    • Geertje Adiana, born 26 December 1859
    • Dirk Cornelius, born 2 February 1861 Haarlemmermeer
    • Cornilius Frederick, born 3 April 1862
    • Maartje, born 3 April 1864 Haarlemmermeer
  • Wife's second marriage date 26 September 1867 Haarlemmermeer with: Rietkerk, Jacob, born 1844 Nieuwerkerk op den Ijssel. There are nine more children in this marriage.

Death Record Comments
  • The year of birth should be 1857 not 1859.
  • Dr. Albert Vanderkloot was the son of one of Adrianus's brothers.
  • Nephritis is an acute inflammation of the kidneys, also called "Bright's Disease" when chronic. Chronic means of "long duration".
  • Hypertension is an abnormally high arterial blood pressure or high state of emotional tension
  • Uremia is an excess of urine in the blood and characterized by headache, nausea, and vomiting. Martha's death record indicates that the condition lasted 28 days or from about September 28, pretty close to the time frame of the September 30, 1920 Letter present in the Letter's Section.

  • Section F7 is in the Haven of Hope near 67th Street.
  • As with the death record, there is an error on the age, the number of years. It should be March 28, 1857 . This was partially corrected on the tombstone.

Last Will and Testament and Distribution of Estate

  • A request was made on February 15, 1977 of the Clerk of the Circuit Court, Probate Division for Cook County, Illinois to search for the last will and testament, distribution of estate and inventory list for Martha Vanderkloot who died on October 25, 1920.
  • The response was "We are unable to find any record of probate on the estate of the person name herein, in the Probate Court of Cook County, Illinois. They wrote "1911-1928, no Est (Estate)".
