- There are two data extraction records in the above extraction. The top one was found in a September 2005 Ancestry search of Dutch Immigrants.
- The second extraction is from the actual the National Archive's Immigration Ship Manifest microfilm obtained in February 2006. Key scans from this manifest are shown below.
- When the manifest was viewed, the likelihood that the A. Vanderkloot found in the Ancestry Search in 2005 significantly increased. This is because A. Vanderkloot was mixed in with an M. van der Kloot and family. Family historians always related that Adrianus, Marinus, and Pieter came over first, though it was a little unclear in which order or if they all came together. Van der Kloot is a pretty uncommon name both in the Netherlands and especially in the USA for that time period so it is very likely these van der Kloots are Adrianus and Marinus , sons of Matthijs and Trintje van der Kloot. The only other van der Kloots would be their cousins Adrianus or Mathijs R. van der Kloot, children of Marinus and Meis van der Kloot. However, that family arrived in 1868 with their children, which included the mentioned Adrianus and Mathijs R. van der Kloot.
- However, there are two major discrepancies. First, it is known that Marinus' wife's name was Maatje. I have trouble reading old handwriting, especially the first letters, but to me it appears as Vrouer? or Frouer which is not even close to Maatje. The other discrepancy has to do with the sex of the infant. The best data I have shows that Marinus and Maatje married in the Netherlands on October 20, 1880 and their son Matthias was born in December 1880 and which matches the age of Infant Vanderkloot fairly well. But the sex is wrong.

- Thus while these two issues on the wife's name and their child's sex can't be explained, it is felt that the year of 1881 is what is expected for the arrival years and the very clear A. and M. van der Kloot do match Adrianus and Marinus and there is literally no one else that it matches. Therefore, it is highly likely, that Adrianus and Marinus and his family arrived on the Pollux on 29 August 1881.
- Another interesting aspect of this record is the name W. Reinhard. It is very close to Rhinderd who worked with the van der Kloots in De Cocksdorp and came to Chicago with them.
- Finally there is the issue of where is Pieter van der Kloot. Family stories indicated that he did come over early with Adrianus and Marinus, but he is not in the above grouping. Did he come by himself in 1881 or early 1882? Or did he arrive for the first time in September 1882 on the Pollux with Martha Tanis?
