This is a photograph of a number of Vanderkloot women in front of a house with a large porch. The original picture indicates the year as 1924. It is unclear if these are the descendants/in-laws of the Matthijs and Trijntje van der Kloot family or the descendants/in-laws of the Marinus and Meis van der Kloot family or both. Statements of who's who are best guesses so far. No writing has been found on the photograph providing verification. Standing (left to right): 5 standing women:
Seated Adults (left to right): 5 seated woman
|
Seated Children (left to right): 4 seated children
In 2006, Cindy wrote that she believes her grandmother and great-grandmother are the third and fourth women standing and that her mother is the second child from the left. They are, respectively, Helen Cantine Vanderkloot Platner, Ollie (aka Olive Mabel) Cantine Vanderkloot, and Olive Patricia Platner McVey. She doesn't know where the house could have been, but there was a summer place at Mackatawa on Lake Michigan. In August 2008, Roger Kotz wrote: The fifth woman standing is my mother, age 15.......The woman on mom's left is indeed, my grandmother, Jenny Vanderkloot Eelman. I'd recognize her anywhere since I spent many happy days with grandma. Mom and grandma were very close and we lived across the street from her on Morgan St. Dick Denker sent a Xerox of this picture to Dave Jordan after the 1988 Vanderkloot Reunion. It is unclear who has the original photograph. If the original can be found, a higher quality image can be uploaded. If you would like to add information about this picture, please contact Dave Jordan, a ggg-grandson of Adrianus and Maatje van der Kloot. The Picture Reference Number is DJB51. |
