Death Certificate Comments
  • The Gainowskis used a variety of spellings for their name. They used Gainoski for Rosa's death certificate.
  • The 60 years in the US and in Chicago is in error. Sixty Years implies 1873; the Gainowskis came about 1886-1887.
  • The 58 years as a housewife implies 1875. Joseph and Rosa married in 1868.
  • Rosa's parents names are listed as Joseph and Rosa Waywood. The original name was Wogervodka. Waywood is perhaps an anglicized version.
  • Peritonitis is an inflamation of the membrane lining the walls of the abdomminal cavity.
  • Amelia Gainoski is the wife of Jacob Gainoski, son of Rosa Gainaoski.

GEINOSKY

ROSA JOSEPH

1847 MOTHER 1933 1845 FATHER 1909

Tombstone Comments
  • The above is a transcription of the Gainowski Tombstone at St. Mary's Cemetery.
  • The only inscription on the Gainowski Tombstone is for Joseph and Rosa. There is none for Mary Lynch or Lillian Rose.
  • Of interest is the spelling of Gainowski as Geinosky and not Gainosky as in both of their death certificates. Certainly some thought went into this choice of spellings as it was put into granite.
