On February 16, 1977, the County Clerk of Cook County, Illinois indicated that no birth record could be found for Arthur S. Jordan for Chicago or Cook County Illinois, whose father was James Oscar Jordan, and whose mother was Margaret Jane Knowles.

Birth records were not required in Illinois until 1916 so unless there was a delayed registration of birth, it is unlikely that birth records are on file. One reason this record was pursued was to see if the middle initial "S" might have stood for "Scholdberg".
