This is a photo of various Grotskes and Jordans on Charlie Grotske's 1st communion day. Based on the ages of known children, the warmth of the day, the foliage and that nowadays, 1st Communions are usually in May, an estimated date is Saturday, May 26, 1928. I chose Saturday as it is a good day since the young children would be out of school and parents’ were off work for a social gathering and late May as the day appears warm. The year might have been 1929 though as I had to guess how old some of the children were.

The Grotske children’s mother was Rose and the Jordan children's mother was Elizabeth. Elizabeth and Rose were sisters and children of John and Ann Page.

Dave Jordan received a copy of the original of this photograph in the 1980s, possibly from Herb and Dorothy Jordan. Charles and Rose Grotske must have commissioned a photographer as it is both an excellent photo and various family members have copies.
