Filipek Family Overview

The Dedinas do not appear to be genealogically connected to the Filipeks or Nemecs but their names appear frequently as baptismal sponsors of their children. It is thought that Katherine Nemec met them when she came to Chicago in 1882 as she stayed next door to them when she stayed with the Novaks. It is believed that Rosalie Dedina had young children with another on the way in late-1882 and that Rosalie may have befriended Katherine who was also pregnant.
It appears their friendship later blossomed. At times the Filipeks lived in the same apartment building with the Dedinas.
