This is a photograph of Adrianus (Ade) and Art Vanderkloot in their knickers. The brothers were children of Adrianus and Martha Vanderkloot. The taller man on the left is Ade, born on June 22, 1889. The shorter man on the right is Art, born on August 28, 1885. I roughly estimated the year as about 1925. Based on their clothing, it has the look of them just returning from a round of golf. A possibility is they got together for Art’s 40th birthday. If so, Ade was 36. During the 1920s, Art generally lived at 7047 S. Ada in Chicago. There isn’t enough around them to know whether that is the 7047 S. Ada backyard. However, the bush behind them is similar to the kind of bush behind Adrianus in: “Possibly Adrianus Vanderkloot’s 73rd at Ada Street (circa April 1925)”.

On a sad note, Art lost his wife, Anna Grass Vanderkloot, earlier that year on April 11th, 1925, to tuberculosis. Art passed away 4 years later of tuberculosis also on June 28, 1929, in Detroit. Art and Anna Vanderkloot’s son, Artie Tanis Vanderkloot, Jr. born on August 28, 1915, was then taken care of by Adrian and Delia Vanderkloot, who were childless.
