These two photos are of Don Schodrof in front of 7047 S. Ada Street in Chicago. Don is the son of Henry Schodrof and Alette Vanderkloot Schodrof. Don was born on February 24, 1914. His mother, Alette, was the 1st daughter of Adrianus and Martha Vanderkloot.

In the left photo, he is standing holding his cap, and in the other, he is standing. The metal railing by the steps leads to the door to 7047 S. Ada. There is a light snow on the ground on a warm winter's day. Don has on a nice suit and sweater. Jack Schodrof, Don's son, indicated this was Don's graduation day from 8th grade, and the year was 1928. Back then, there were January and June graduations in the Chicago schools because there were so many students.

Adrianus and Martha Vanderkloot purchased the 7047 Ada Street property in 1912, and various of their descendants lived there over the years. The home was a two-flat accessed by the front steps. Once through the front door, one turned right to enter the first-floor apartment and left to walk up the stairs to the second-floor apartment. Under the open porch, there were a couple of basement rooms with windows toward the street. At times, some of the young children slept or played there.
