This is a photograph of Marie Vanderkloot, 3rd daughter of Adrianus and Martha Vanderkloot. Marie is in a white dress and appears to be about one year old. Marie was born on October 8, 1899, in Chicago. It is possible the dress is a christening gown. If this was her one-year portrait, the photo date would be on or around October 8, 1900. Of note, there appears to be a ring on her left middle finger.

Dick Denker, Jeanne Jordan, and Harry Schodrof identified the photograph as Marie Denker. The darker right eye was on the original photograph.

The back of the original photo shows the photographer as J.J. Hille, 3452 South Halsted, Chicago. The location of his studio was about a mile from the Vanderkloot Iron Works at 2611 S. Halsted and the general location of the Vanderkloot’s home at the time. It is the same photographer that took the “Probably Trijntje Vanderkloot’s 50th Anniversary Portrait - November 15th, 1901” and possibly the “Probably Adrianus and Martha Vanderkloot's 20th Anniversary Family Portrait - December 26, 1902”.

Other descendants have originals of this portrait. I found this one in my grandmother’s Grace Vanderkloot Filipek’s collection. That is the one displayed and which shows the photographer as J.J. Hille. If you would like to add information about this photo, please contact Dave Jordan, a great-grandson of Adrianus and Martha Vanderkloot. The Picture Reference Number is JCJ05.
