In February 1952, Margaret Graham had a poem she wrote printed on heavy paper, much like the kind one would use for a wedding invitation. The lettering is in gold. A transcript is as follows:

The way he Planned

We live and love - are close - and part,
Have troubles - joys - that break our heart,
But God knows best -
Then the test, of faith -
That God will guide - if we take his hand,
and walk with him the peaceful way -
The way he planned -

Mom

Written by
Margaret Jane Graham
Feb. 19-52

It not known what prompted Margaret to compose this poem or whether it was something she had written years before and finally decided to have it formalized. Since the poem was labeled as written by Mom, she poem might have written it to console one or all of her children or perhaps her husband.

Her children were Herbert, Frances, Edward, Charles, and Arthur, all Jordans by her first marriage. Her husband, Robert (Bob) Graham was still alive in 1952 but he didn’t look well in some photos from May 1944. He passed away on Sep 13, 1953.

The date is definitely February 1952, but there is an unusual “hyphen” between the 19 and the 52. Perhaps she meant February 19, 1952.

The Leonhardt family gave this card to Dave Jordan in the late 1980s. Muriel Leonhardt is Margaret's sister.
