As follows is a series of 11 photos taken at Michigan State Park in July 1941. They are the result of a day-trip by Harry and Ann Ulrich and their son Harry (Bud) and Herbert and Elizabeth (Betty) Jordan. Ann and Betty were sisters and daughters of John and Anna Page.

The photos were labeled 7-41. The day was likely a Saturday or Sunday as the men would have had those days off. What was unusual was that Anne Ulrich was wearing high heels. The men had on dress pants and dress shoes. And as with the June 1938 Wheatfield Indiana photos, perhaps it was an impromptu drive after church on a Sunday to an isolated area of the Michigan sand dunes.

The photos were taken with Harry Ulrich’s camera. The referred to Michigan State Park is probably today's Warren Dunes, located between Michigan City and Benton Harbor.

Pictured left to right:

  1. Ann Ulrich, age 35, in dress with wide belt
  2. Elizabeth (Betty) Jordan, age 45
  3. Probably Harry (Bud) Ulrich, age 9, by the boat to the right

This photograph was in Ann Ulrich's Photo Collection. Ray Ulrich is now the keeper of this collection; Ray lent me the print to scan. If you would like to add information about this photo, please contact Dave Jordan, a grandson of Herbert and Elizabeth (Betty) Jordan. The Picture Reference Number is DJP08.
