Absent are:
- Herbert and Elizabeth Jordan and two of their three sons Herbert Fred Jordan and Edward C. Jordan. In April 1943 Herb Fred Jordan and Edward Charles Jordan were at Army training. Ed had just begun Army Air Cadet training in Texas the previous month. Their father, Herbert Arthur Jordan had returned to Chicago from California a few months earlier after his wife Elizabeth broke her leg that winter, perhaps she was still in a cast when the picture was taken as it would have made sense for her to be at her parents’ 50th. In the Fall of 1943, they permanently moved to California.
- Charles Grotske, about age 43 and husband of Rose Grotske, age 42 and No. 5 seated. It is unknown why he wasn’t present but perhaps he had to be at work.
It was thought for some time that within the Standing in the back left to right listing that No. 6 was either Dorothy Koob, who later married Herbert Jordan or Ruth Grotske who married, Charlie Grotske, Jr. But logically it is likely to be Ruth Grotske, as her husband or future husband is in front of her. Regarding Dorothy Koob, at the time of the Page 50th anniversary, Herb Jordan was away in army training and they were not yet engaged and thus unlikely she would have attended
