      It is believed Matej was born a Malinek but took on the name Zelezny.
      This was usually done as a result of the purchase of a piece of property, long in the hands of another family.

  • Katerina Zelezny born 30 December 1827 at Klec No. 4, Bohemia; married Martin Nemec on January 15, 1850 in the parish of Lomnice; died 13 February 1902 at Lomnice No. 45; her grandson was John Filipek
  • Rosalie Zelezny born 18 August 1839 at Klec No. 4, Bohemia; married Jacob Bastyr; her granddaughter was Rose Skoblik
      • Simon Brabec of Klec No. 12
    • Maria Brabec born about 1797, Bohemia; married Matej Zelezny; died 2 April 1883 at Klec No. 5, Bohemia

        • Rose Skoblik married John Filipek (above and same level of indent)

The resulting relationship:

  1. John Filipek and Rose Skoblik were 2nd cousins because they had a common great-grandparent (Matej and Marie Zelezny).
  2. Rose Filipek (nee Skoblik) was first cousin once removed from her mother-in-law, Katerina Filipek (nee Nemec).
  3. Katerina Filipek (nee Nemec) was first cousin to Katerina Skoblik (nee Bastyr), mother of Rose.
  4. Rose Skoblik was born in 1900 and came to the Chicago about 1920 to help her mother's 1st cousin Katerina Filipek care for Mary Barrett. She and John were married about 1925.
