Family Chart Notes
  1. Clicking individual names under the Parent's/Children's column transfers to that individual's Family Chart.
  2. John Isaac Steward, shipwright was identified on Joseph John Steward's 11 June 1848 Marriage Record as his father.
  3. The Steward Census Records can be useful in understanding the various Steward families and connections
  4. The 1841 Cenus identifies Joseph, John and Elizabeth as the children of John and Sarah Steward. The 1851 Census identifies John as the son of John and Sarah Steward implying that Mary Ann had died before 1841 and Elizabeth Sally had probably died by 1851 or had married by age 15. See John and Sarah Steward Family Census.
  5. The process of how additional relationships were found for the rest of the family can be found in the Jordan Story see: A Steward/Hooper Connection.
  1. The Docklands Ancestor Parish Register Transcriptions Index for All Saints Poplar shows John and Sara Steward had three children baptized at All Saints. These were John Isaac, Mary Ann, and Elizabeth Steward. For each of these baptisms, John, the father was employed as a shipwright.
  2. The Docklands Ancestor Parish Register Transcriptions Index also showed a John and Sarah Steward with a son William baptized 25 April 1824; however the father John was employed as a butcher. And there was also a John and Sarah Stewart with a son John born 28 April 1828 and baptized 28 June 1828. For thsi one also, the father was a butcher. Given these occupation differences and that John the shipwright and Sarah Steward had another son John born a few months later on 2 July 1828, it appeared that there is a Steward shipwright family and a Stewart or Steward butcher family.
  3. Mine turns out to be the Steward shipwright family. And a Geoff Rolf is connected with the John Steward, the butcher. Through correspondence in late 2009 and early 2010, it was determined that his John Steward married Sarah Tasker in 1819 while my John Steward married Sarah Richman in 1820.
