Records Search Plan - Nemec Families
As follows are record searches that could provide additional knowledge about our Nemec family and the families they married into such as the Filipek and Novak families. Items listed are future investigations and are not likely to be available soon. You may wish to contact Dave to determine the status of an item or volunteer to pursue it. In some limited cases, the Family History Library Films page may list a research film number for a search item below.
Nemec Family
Frank Nemec
- Ship Arrival Record: to determine when he came and if his sister Katerina came with him
- 1910 Census: to check names of children.
- 1900 Census: find again to make sure it was transcribed correctly
- Resurrection Burial Record: to determine if there was a family plot and if there are connections to other relatives.
Katherine Nemec
- Marriage Record: Katerina Nemec married James (Vaclav) Filipek in January 1884 location unknown, but thought to be Bohemia. Record would clarify where the marriage took place and to gain insight into how many times Vaclav and Katerina went back and forth across the Atlantic.

John and Theresa Novak
Background: John and Teresa Novak were the Baptismal sponsors for John Filipek in December 1882. They may have been the family Katherine Nemec stayed with in Chicago. It would be useful to know how this family relates to the Nemecs and Filipeks. So far there is no trace of them.
