Family Chart Notes
  1. Clicking individual names under the Parent's/Children's column transfers to that individual's Family Chart.
  2. The USA naturalization date unclear. It could be February 1889. If so he had moved to USA and probably Chicago as soon as 1884.
  3. The USA naturalization date for Robert is August 1890.
  1. It appears Robert and his wife Jessie left Liverpool about 1884 to be with or help his brother William establish his business in Chicago. It is unclear if Robert proceeded directly to Chicago or went to Montreal first for a few years.
  2. With Wiliam Wallace Knowles death in 1897, it appears that Robert and Jessie were chosen to raise his two younger children Muriel and Wilfred Knowles. It is said he left $1000 for each of the children to be raised. Robert then died 16 months later and Jessie had the children in 1900 as shown by the 1900 Census.
