1 April 1860 in De Cocksdorp, the Island of Texel, Netherlands | Bertha Dros in 1887 in De Cocksdorp, Texel at age 27 | • to Chicago in 1881 or 1882, but appears to have returned three times to bring over relatives. • Arrived in 1881 or 1882 to work with his brothers and cousins at the Vanderkloot Iron Works in Chicago. • Assuming he was already in Chicago, Pieter returned to Holland at his brother Adrainus' request to accompany Martha Tanis, his brother's future wife to Chicago. Thus Pieter Vanderkloot and Martha Tanis arrived 9 September 1882 in New York on the Edam. See Edam Manifest. • Returned to Holland to bring his parents and 4 siblings (Matthijs, Jannetje, Cornelius, and Jan) to Chicago. They arrived 22 March 1886 in New York on the P. Caland. See P. Caland Manifest. • Returned to Holland in 1887 to marry Bertha Dros. He then brought her to Chicago in 1887 or 1888. |
